Commonly referred to by it's model number '6120', the Chet Atkins Hollow Body guitar was the top of the line of the series of instruments that bore Chet Atkins name. This is an extremely rare variation of the model, most notably for it's Brown finish. Two others are known to exist in this color, one of which was a prototype for the model, given to Chet Atkins by Gretsch. The highly figured Maple used for the top and back is also unusual for a Gretsch instrument of this era. A photograph of this instrument appears in the book American Guitars, by Tom Wheeler. At the time it was featured in the book this instrument was a part of the John Entwistle collection. Entwistle used it with a non-original Gibson bridge. An original Melita adjustable bridge is currently on the guitar, and a standard bar bridge is included. Also included with this instrument are it's original hardshell case,
tooled leather strap, and some original factory paperwork |
