Elliot Easton's 1976 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe used on 'The Cars' and 'Candy-O' LPs

This left handed Gibson Les Paul Deluxe is one of two instruments used by Elliot Easton to record The Cars first two LPs, 'The Cars' and 'Candy-O'. He also used this instrument for live performances to promote the records.

Elliot sent the guitar back to Gibson for it's custom Red & Black finish. Full size humbucking pickups & pickguard, and Grover tuners have also been added. The serial number on this guitar is 00132578.

Included with this auction lot is a Gibson hard shell case, Elliot's handwritten LOA, and a copy of the DVD 'The Cars Live' signed by Elliot. The DVD shows Elliot using this guitar in live performance.

 

The Cars • LP Cover & Stage Worn Jackets

The leather jacket on the left was worn by Elliot Easton on the back cover of The Cars 1978 debut LP, 'The Cars.'

The jacket on the right was worn by Ric Ocasek on the back cover of The Cars second LP, released in 1979, 'Candy-O'.

Both jackets are from the collection of Elliot Easton. Each comes with a handwritten letter of authenticity from Elliot, and a signed copy of the vinyl LP on which the jacket was worn.

 

Elliot Easton's 1975 Fender Telecaster used on 'The Cars' and 'Candy-O' LPs

This Fender Telecaster is one of two instruments used by Elliot Easton to record The Cars first two LPs, 'The Cars' and 'Candy-O'. He also used this instrument for live performances to promote the records.

Elliot had famed pickup designer Seymour Duncan modify the guitar for use on tour. Modifications include a 1950s style see-thru butterscotch finish on the body, a custom Duncan bridge position pickup, vintage style brass bridge saddles & Kluson tuners, and a black/white/black pickguard.

Included with this auction lot is a Fender hard shell case, Elliot's handwritten LOA, and a copy of the DVD 'The Cars Live' signed by Elliot. The DVD shows Elliot using this guitar in live performance.

 

Elliot Easton’s 1985 Kramer/Tom Anderson Guitarworks EE Signature Prototype


This guitar is Elliot Easton's left handed prototype for the Kramer Elliot Easton Signature model. It was built for Elliot by Tom Anderson, and bears the Tom Anderson Guitarworks decal under the Kramer decal on the headstock. The serial number on this instrument is A3130.

This guitar was not used on any of Elliot’s recordings with The Cars, but was used in his home studio and remained in his collection for ten years.

The guitar features Tom Anderson pickups and their standard wiring configuration, and a genuine Floyd Rose locking tremolo. It is professionally set up and is in excellent playing and cosmetic condition.

Route 66 Guitars sold this instrument for Elliot in 1995, and purchased the guitar back for it’s own collection in 2002. Elliot signed the guitar and dated it 11/5/02.
